Along with the enjoyment of actually
creating my large hand-thrown vessels, I am also excited about the use of
various hand-dug earth materials with fire to build up textural surfaces
of these forms similar to a painter’s canvas.
My interest in historical pottery and
their creators is an obsession with me. It is my intention to give the
viewer of my clay works visual clues as to question references of similar
historical clay ritual, utilitarian clay vessels, their maker and intended
use.
In the creation of my functional ware
I always will continue to keep traditional craft values alive with focus
on unique vessels that pour well, feel comfortable to the user with
attractive food safe glazes.
